The world tree is an ancient symbol of cosmic order and can be found in many cultures. The tree stands as the world axis (axis mundi) in the center of the world. As a symbol, it connects heaven, earth and the underworld. It also stands for the soul (roots), the life channel (trunk) and spirit/mind (crown) of every human being. It strengthens our awareness of living and mindful growth, of the eternal return of everything earthly, of knowledge and of the fact that every person and their life is an important part of the cosmic context.
